The Global Drug Survey 2021 reveals that Australians got drunk the most during 2020 and that drug and alcohol habits changed during the pandemic.

A paraglider crashed heavily into the sand dunes on the beach at Broadwater Beach, near Evans Head, today.

The Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter then winch inserted the Helicopter Critical Care Medical Team into sand dunes at Broadwater Beach around 2.30pm today. They were providing assistance to a 35 year old male who was injured when his paraglider crashed heavily into the sand dunes on the beach.

The man was stabilised on scene by ASNSW paramedics and the medical team before he was recovered back into the helicopter and flown direct to Lismore Hospital in a stable condition. He is suffering suspected back injuries and will undergo further treatment.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
