Gareth Smith, Palestine Liberation Centre

It is clear that Danny Wakil (Letters April 24) divides the truth into facts likeable and unlikeable. My car is covered in facts he doesn’t like, for example: In 2014 Israel killed 2,314 Palestinians and injured 17,125.

However, I am not alone in expressing outrage over this butchery. On August 24, 2014, 327 Jews (40 of them Holocaust survivors) called for a full economic, cultural, and academic boycott of Israel in the New York Times. They stated, ‘Genocide begins with the silence of the world. We must raise our collective voices and use our collective power to bring about an end to all forms of racism, including the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people.’

They expressed alarm at ‘the extreme, racist dehumanisation of Palestinians in Israeli society, which has reached fever pitch.’

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

  1. In every society defending itself from aggression and terror threats there are the quislings; in this case deluded anti-Zionist Jews who think they can make peace with an implacable enemy. The Palestinians are victims of their leadership that isn’t willing to accept a Jewish sovereign presence in the Middle East.
Gareth Smith can trumpet his pro-Palestinian propaganda till the cows come home, but he will not deter a nation of people intent on defending itself from annihilation by an anti-Jew Islamic jihad.

  2. The issue Jack Morris is not the question of a Jewish sovereign presence or bad decisions by the Palestinian
leadership. People are being massacred on a regular basis at the whim of the extreme right wing Israeli Government
Over many years peace talks have been held between the respective leaderships but time and again just when some sort of agreement was on the cards new demand would be made by Israel and made to look as though
the Palestinians were made to blame for non-agreement.
Who benefited? Israel, it gave them the a free hand to continue with the illegal (under international law) land
gabs.So called “Settler Settlements” in the West Bank, under military occupation for nearly 60 years.
Seventy per cent of the people existing in Gaza were forced into the area by Israel and now we have Trump’s
“Deal of the Century” to be forced onto the long suffering Palestinians
    God Help Them!!!
