Have you ever wondered what would happen to the Addams Family if they headed to the Byron Shire? Well now you have a chance to find out. Taking to the stage in Brunswick Heads for their final performance next Wednesday, the mixed ability Arcadia Plus Drama Group will be exploring the influence of the Rainbow Region on the strange world of the of Addams Family in their show Raise The Dead.

It involves fairies, magicians and some unexpected rock stars followed by a ‘whole lot of craziness’ said Rohin Knight from Byron Bay Care who has worked with the group since 2011.

The drama group has been run by local drama and dance teacher Brian Dale, who also runs the Bright Lights Performance School in Byron Bay, for the last six years.

‘Brian is great with the clients at picking out hidden talents and bringing the best out of everyone. He is really able to recognise their strengths,’ said Rohin.

The drama group brings people together from around the shire from a range of services who wouldn’t otherwise get opportunity to interact.

‘It’s a real melting pot but the biggest thing is it is a whole heap of fun. Workers get to let loose, have fun and help people get into their role and have a ball,’ he said with a laugh.

So get along to catch Raise The Dead next Wednesday July 31 at 11.30am at the Red Cross Hall in Brunswick Heads for a great laugh. It is a gold coin donation at the door.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
