The American FBI now states that: anti-government, fringe political ‘conspiracy theories’ very likely motivate some domestic extremists to commit criminal and sometimes violent activity.

Yet, president Harry S Truman wrote: ‘Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear.’

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

  1. Truman nailed it. Now we have Trump calling ScoMo
‘the Man Of Titanium’ & it could be so if the titanium
has entered the brain. Either way ‘terror’ used as a
weapon by political power infused along with the
practice of a deity in order to ‘silence’ its citizens will
[as it must] create an explosion of opposition. If we
have not got past the stage of fear it’s not far off.
That is the tough part. The parting of the ways. The
way the United Nations see, let alone ‘know’, which
countries are deliberately hoodwinking their people
for profit by supporting coal & gas when emissions
from coal is responsible for 46% of global carbon
dioxide & rising. [IEA = the International Energy
Agency]. Sitting ducks! That’s what we are. Where
-ever we go from here is anyone’s guess.
