In reply to David Gilet about gutters. Perhaps he should consider installing 2mm aperture gutter guard. Not only will it keep out leaves and sticks but provide a barrier for windborne active embers.

It may let a bit of dirt in but with a satisfactory first flush system this will be taken care of.
