Living on the wing

Pete Dawson, Castlemaine, Vic

I have not lived in the Byron region for some years, although am still a regular visitor. I had lived there on and off from 1977. So the online Echo ( is a pleasure to read on a regular basis.

I recently read Kath Vail’s butterfly articles, with her gorgeous photos. You are lucky to have such a gifted and dedicated expert as a contributor. Is it the start of an ongoing series? I believe it should be!

Especially after the devastation of the bushland habitat of these creatures in the bushfires, it is hope-bringing to read such positive stories and see Kath’s brilliant pictures. I’m sure her skill and patience are immense to capture such vibrant images.

Hoping to see more of her work in future.

Support the The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
