Cr Michael Lyon, The Pocket
In response to Roger Seccombe’s letter, fair point, I could have been more circumspect with my comments last week.
It has been pointed out to me that the community protests against the seniors development adjacent to the hospital applied the pressure on the state planning department, who subsequently ruled it out due to traffic impacts. I meant no slight on Cr Coorey’s integrity or the significant role she played in the protests against this development.
I think we differ in that I see the Industrial Lands Strategy as the perfect document to flag, as we have done in Direction 4. That Council and the community want to establish criteria and limits in the Development Control Plan (DCP) to guide future developments in that area, so we do not have to fight this battle again when McGettigans Lane is upgraded.
