Mandy Nolan’s Soapbox: Killer Crocs!

When I was 18, to rebel against the world my parents had created, I shaved a half Mohawk, encouraged my hair to stand on end, grew my armpit hair, wore torn black rags, too much eyeliner and wore 18-hole Dr. Martens boots. These days, to give their parents the shits, the kids are wearing Crocs. With socks. They’re going for comfort.

The brewers at the Byron Bay Brewery are making the stuff you love.

Although things have changed at the Byron Bay Brewery, rest assured that they are still busily brewing the beer you love.

Like so many live music and hospitality venues, the past few months have been extremely tough on the Byron Bay Brewery community. Recently they made the difficult decision that they won’t be re-opening their bar or music venue after its closure owing to COVID-19.

‘We will continue to brew our beer at the brewery, keeping the safety of our brewers and supply of our beer as our top priorities. In the meantime, we’re also on the hunt for another venue that will give us a better space to support the local community for years to come.

This is a tough time for many of our staff and customers, and we want to say a huge thank you for your support over the years. We’re looking forward to sharing a cold beer and a big group hug at some point in the future!

Cheers, from the Byron Bay Brewery team.’

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
