It seems the ‘real’ Gladys Berejiklian has finally emerged in place of the ‘nice’ Gladys revealing an extremely petty and political opportunist. The first glimpses of the ‘real’ Gladys occurred during her last election campaign when a ‘mysterious’ 20-year-old video surfaced supposedly showing opposition leader Michael Daley making disparaging comments about Chinese immigrants (sneaky Gladys).

It was also revealed that during that election campaign Gladys, while engaging in a televised debate in Western Sydney, purposely misled the voters about proposed tolls on soon to be completed toll-roads, (not ‘nice’ Gladys).

Fast forward, and during the COVID-19 emergency Gladys, along with Scotty from marketing led a vicious little smear campaign, cheered on by the inept Qld Liberal National party opposition, against Qld Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk over her refusal to be intimidated into prematurely opening the Qld border against medical advice.

And isn’t it a real shame that the Qld Labor government’s proposal to drastically reduce confusion and disruption to Gold Coast residents by shifting the border south to the Tweed River failed. A great idea but it required NSW government approval, should’ve happened, but ‘nasty Gladys’, backed by Tweed Nationals MP Geoff Provest refused, in what amounted to a political snub, to a Qld Labor Premier on the cusp of being re-elected.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
