John Kersten, Mullumbimby
I can’t control most events in my life,/ but I can choose how I react to them./ More than any outward event,/ my focus dictates my future.
The neck turns the head to view an object,/ just as your will directs your attention./ Choosing your focus./ Holding your focus.
Your focus is your rudder;/ you hold it the way you want to go -/ the way you want to be./ Through tide and tempest.
Till the mighty bulk of the rest of you,/ much hidden below the water line,/ some maybe damaged -/ begins to turn.
I am the captain of my ship.
And I agree with that. But who in hell climbs aboard
it can be a bit of a problem.
