Trumping the Trump

Alan Veacock, Cumbalum

On the fourth day of November 2020 desperately needed change came to the USA. A highly dangerous sociopath and pathological liar was taken down, big time, ending the worst period of political and racial upheaval since the civil rights movement of the 1960s. The entire western world could not have endured another four years of his extreme right-wing ineptitude; the climate emergency requires urgent action now.

Trump’s chaotic tenure in the White House has left a trail of destruction in his wake; he inherited a burgeoning economy and ran it into the ground – America’s reputation has been trashed. Vladimir Putin must be overjoyed with the damage Trump has caused to Western alliances. The aggression of Russia, Iran, North Korea and China has only increased.

Thankfully most demagogues like Trump bring themselves down; enough of their supporters eventually wake up to the fact that they are being conned.

Trump’s election in 2016 was a wakeup call for Western democracies; it demonstrates how the selection process can be so easily manipulated by powerful vested and state-run interests. We now wait in eager anticipation for this cheap, foul-mouthed bullshit artist to be indicted for multiple crimes against the American people.

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

  1. Joachim says:

tRump trumped himself out of office. When I look at the overall voting numbers, it seems to me that if tRump had dealt with the Covid in a responsible manner he would very likely have gotten his 4 more years.

  2. KEITH DUNCAN says:

A really excellent letter Allan, I couldn’t have done better myself, and yes Joachim, without the appalling pandemic response, we were looking at another four years of this megalomaniac, a frightening scenario. But lets now look on the brighter side of life, Americans can now not only celebrate the 4th of July as independence day, they can now celebrate the 4th November as clean up America day when all the unwanted garbage is turfed out, God bless America.

  3. And I would add ‘the rest of humanity!’ What a nut-case. Killing what he calls
his own people & screwing up the globe even further.

  4. Holding the Senate if possible in the hope to control is what it’s about. The
outcome will be known in Jan 2021. The Democrats need to win 2 Senate
seats to be in the running to turn the U.S. around.
