Dangerous surf and tidal conditions along the coast have created strong water currents and rips forming close to shore. Water clarity is low and there will be debris in the ocean, especially near river mouths. Current advice is to:
- Avoid rock fishing and water activities on exposed beaches/rock-shelves
- Only swim at patrolled beaches, between the red and yellow flags. Visit www.beachsafe.org.au for patrolled locations/times
- Boaties should seek advice from Marine Rescue NSW at www.marinerescuensw.com.au and always wear a lifejacket
- If witnessing an in-water emergency dial Triple Zero (000) – Police.
