The recent COVID-19 outbreak in Sydney has seen the rumour mill begin to turn on the Far North Coast.
In cafés, post offices and other places where people gather, socially distanced or not, in both Byron Bay and Ballina, whispers of a case here and two cases there have been speculated upon.
According to a Northern New South Wale Local Health District (NNSWLHD) spokesperson, the last time there was an outbreak in Sydney, ‘all these rumours started happening’.
‘As before, if there is a case, the media and public are notified.
‘There are no new cases to report in NNSWLHD. None for 153 days’.
