Councillors move to create alternative housing market

Byron Council is aiming to make 10 per cent of local housing genuinely affordable within the space of a decade, under a brave and ambitious plan to implement a Community Land Trust (CLT) model across the Shire.

Sam Leader, Mullumbimby

The ‘Equality? You’re lucky you don’t get shot at!’ comment and the disdain it thinly veils has done more to galvanise my anger than the protest itself, which was in fact hugely inspiring.

A lot of Mullum’s gathering comprised of my generation (X) and older. To see women you would normally smile politely at across the table at Mavis’ Kitchen yelling and carrying placards was a delight. Hearing a heart-wrenching poem from an abuse survivor, followed by Aine Tyrell’s battle cry song stirred every attendee to their core. But that man, Echo. That man.

Remember when Jeff Goldblum waved the flare at the T-Rex, which only incensed the beast further? That is what Morrison has done to me.

I urge you to not mistake Morrison’s insouciance for tone deafness. To my ears he is broadcasting his contempt with forensic precision. I can barely express how ferociously I abhor him for that. What an irresponsible, arrogant, disgraceful waste of matter he is.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

  1. Hi Sam, one gets the impression that you are not overly impressed with our great leader (Scotty from gimmickry), his only real strength has ever been in marketing, it got them through the last election, with some help from Labor, but he had to do a lot of bullshiting to do it. But luckily, I think the voters, especially women are working him out, he just can’t continue to sidestep responsibility for everything and refuse to answer questions forever, I think he is getting weaker and Labor is getting stronger, even the nut-cases on Sky News after dark are showing signs of panic, especially after the WA election result, the Liberals may even try to replace him.
