The Transport Management Centre’s media unit has advised residents up and down the east coast that many roads are now closed owing to the current flood conditions.

With the current weather conditions affecting roads and across the Greater Sydney and the Hunter areas as well as the Northern Rivers, road users are urged to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in flood-affected areas.

The Lismore Road/Bangalow Road is now closed at Binna Burra with cars have difficulty getting through much of the afternoon – though witnesses saw many attempting to forge again into the floodwaters.

Motorists are advised to avoid any non-essential travel. Anyone who needs to travel, should exercise extreme caution, allow plenty of extra travel time and never drive through floodwaters.

There are also a number of other minor road closures. For a full list and the latest traffic information, visit www.livetraffic.com, download the Live Traffic NSW app or call 132 701.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
