The Transport Management Centre’s media unit has advised residents up and down the east coast that many roads are now closed owing to the current flood conditions.

With the current weather conditions affecting roads and across the Greater Sydney and the Hunter areas as well as the Northern Rivers, road users are urged to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in flood-affected areas.

The Lismore Road/Bangalow Road is now closed at Binna Burra with cars have difficulty getting through much of the afternoon – though witnesses saw many attempting to forge again into the floodwaters.

Motorists are advised to avoid any non-essential travel. Anyone who needs to travel, should exercise extreme caution, allow plenty of extra travel time and never drive through floodwaters.
