David Gilet, Byron Bay

Some years ago I came to the realisation that Fast Buck$ is largely motivated by an obsessive need for it to be seen that his opinions are correct. In the past his letters have contained useful observations and facts that would not be known to the general public had his research not revealed them.

Lately his letters are totally preoccupied with vicious attacks on people he obviously regards as enemies, rather than just as political opponents.

Now, it must be acknowledged that in the struggle to protect Byron from inappropriate development Fast Buck$ has made an enormous contribution, and the district owes him a huge debt of gratitude, but if he wishes to retain his role as creative disturber he’s going to have to deal with the issues and put aside his personal animosities. He needs to do this for his own sake, as I already I know quite a few people who have said to me ‘I don’t bother to read Fast Buck$’s letters anymore’.

I still read them, I am fascinated by the amount of petulance and self-righteousness one person can cram into one letter.
