Life Cykel is now well known in many countries across the world.

Life Cykel is a versatile, forward thinking and high ethos company that focuses on harnessing the circular economy and the great potential that mushrooms possess to create quality products for human, and planetary, health.

Life Cykel was co-founded by Julian Mitchell and Ryan Creed in 2015 when they decided to collect coffee waste from Australian cafes and restaurants and use it to grow gourmet mushrooms, to sell back to the community. They were creating a closed-loop system and thus began their journey into the Circular Economy.

Life Cykel began to offer coffee waste Grow Kits, allowing customers to grow their own delicious mushrooms at home. To this day, Life Cykel still sells their Oyster Mushroom Grow Kits, along with other coffee waste Grow Kits which include a Microgreens Grow Kit and a Bee Pollination Grow kit. These kits are prepared by the amazing team at the Byron Bay Herb Nursery. By integrating the circular economy into these products it inspires new attitudes towards waste utilisation, fresh homegrown food, and supporting the natural environment.

Not only do these circular economy products reduce our impact on the environment, they also provide us with fresh nutritional food. Oyster mushrooms are a great source of B vitamins, as well as essential minerals such as selenium, magnesium, calcium and iron. They also boast a delicate, savoury and meat-like taste and texture, perfect to add umami flavour to vegetarian dishes. Their Alkaline Greens Grow Kit allows you to grow cress and mizuna, which are vitamin- and alkaline-rich microgreens that have a delightful zesty flavour.

Life Cykel began their transformative journey into a mushroom biotechnology company when they developed their mushroom Liquid Extract Flavourings. They were excited to offer customers a new way to access the many benefits that mushrooms have to offer. Life Cykel is now well known in many countries across the world, with a loyal customer base and many new customers beginning their journey into the functional mushroom world. Life Cykel greatly values its relationship with, and strives to collaborate with, like-minded businesses and communities to create positive change.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
