The Northern NSW Local Health District, Lynne Weir, today say that two new cases of COVID-19 have been reported for the District to 8pm, 23 October.
Acting Chief Executive Northern NSW Local Health District, Lynne Weir, said both cases are in the Lismore Local Government Area (LGA), are linked to known cases and initial investigations indicate they were infectious in the community.
‘Contact tracing is underway to determine venues of concern, and further information
will be provided as soon as possible.
‘Byron Bay residents with even the mildest of COVID-19 symptoms are urged to get
tested following the detection of fragments of the virus in sewage samples taken from
the Byron Bay sewage treatment plant on 21 October.’
The plant serves about 9,000 people.
There are currently no known active cases in the Byron area.
