With COVID numbers steadily rising over the weekend in the Northern NSW Local Health District – 306 new cases to December 31 and 322 new cases to 8pm January 1 – the area reached a high of 393 confirmed new cases of COVID-19 to 8pm last night and is expected to be over 400 tomorrow as people return home after the New Year break.
These numbers are just those of people who have been tested – many testing stations are at capacity and many who hoped to be tested today will have to wait until tomorrow.

There are 19 COVID-19 positive patients in hospital in Northern NSW, with four of these in ICU.
