There were another two deaths reported in the Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWHD) to 8pm 26 January, and one in the 24 hours prior to that, with 44 people in hospital and five in ICU. There were 695 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed during that 24 hours including 317 positive PCR tests and 378 positive rapid antigen tests (RAT).
‘Sadly, today Northern NSW are reporting the death of two people from COVID-19. One person was form the Tweed Shire and in their 80s. One person was from the Byron Shire in their 80s,’ said a spokesperson from NNSWHD.
‘We express our sincere condolences to their loved ones.’
There are 2,722 people in hospital with COVID in NSW with 181 in ICU of which 72 are ventilated. Twenty-nine people have died of COVID across the state.
‘Can I pass my condolence onto their families for their loss of their loved ones,’ said Dr Kerry Chant, NSW Chief Health Officer.
