There have been another two deaths from COVID-19 in the 24-hours to 4pm, 3 February in the Northern NSW Health District (NNSWHD).

During the same period, 477 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed including 138 positive PCR tests and 339 positive rapid antigen tests (RAT). There are currently 31 people in the hospital and five people in ICU.

Confirmed tests by LGA (PCR and RAT included):

  • Ballina 82
  • Byron 71

Northern NSW Local Health District is urging people to get tested for COVID-19 at the first sign of symptoms and isolate until a negative result is received.

‘Anyone who tests positive using a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) is required to register their result with Service NSW. Registering your RAT result enables NSW Health to provide advice on self-isolation and managing COVID-19 symptoms at home and connect high risk people to clinical care services,’ they stated in their press release.

‘Everyone who is eligible for a booster is encouraged to book without delay through the COVID-19 vaccine clinic finder.’

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

  1. You have stated in this article “from Covid”. Not “with”. One must then assume that these people were previously healthy and young (and under the general decades of death – say under 70) before dying solely from the symptoms of Covid. However it seems (once again) Not so. Delving slightly deeper (since the Echo don’t like to print facts that contradict their role as government propagandists) one can find out that these 2 poor souls who died, were actually in their 80s and 90s. So…it seems they in fact died “with” Covid. Not “from”. And most likely of old age. And are most likely fully double vaxxed. As pretty much all older people have been given the double jabs. Lets keep things real, factual and honest shall we Echo..?

    • Most of what you wrote is speculative bull$7!T, John! And you demand fact and honesty!

      “One must then assume …”; ” it seems” (x 2); “most likely” (x 2)

If you read The Echo fully and frequently you’d be unable to support your contention that the paper is a government propagandist.

And it was two *people* who died, not two ‘souls’. If one believes in a ‘soul’ (which I do not) it is supposed to be immortal, hence it cannot die.

Just crawl back down your rabbit hole!

  2. Hey chill out a bit, the question remains Gordon. Did these people die “from” as stated, or “with”..? It is likely (as with many cases) it is “with”, given their age. What were their underlying conditions..? Were they vaccinated, or not..? Why not print their ages..? Which also begs the question, was it just death from old age..? (in their 80’s and 90’s – as printed in other press sources – the decades most people just die anyway) I’m not speculating, just asking the Echo to reveal all the facts. And yes, the Echo have become in recent times propagandists, perhaps not for the govt but most certainly for big pharma. Why do they push so hard for vaccines and boosters..? What are they getting out of it..? Was not the Echo once the bastion of free thought and choice…? No longer it seems.

    • My mother died last year at 98 (not of, with or any other how with regards Covid 19. The point is she valued her life until the end. If she had contracted Covid in her 80 or early 90s it may very well have killed her and deprived her of up to 2 decades of fulfilling lives.

People who are “older”, immune compromised or otherwise more vulnerable to this disease find va
Use judgements around the worth of their lives, quite justifiably abhorrent. What’s tragically ironic is that those perpetrating this type of eugenic thinking are amongst the first to warn us all we are heading to a fascist state!

Yes those older people who die are usually double vaxxed because nearly 100% are and no vaccines will be 100% successful. What we shouldn’t lose sight of is that we don’t know how many have been protected from serious disease by the vaccines – nowhere near as easy to measure.

With/from can be a moot point. I read in other comments that someone didn’t die of Covid but from ventilator induced pneumonia, which amongst other complications led to heart failure. In instances like this I’d suggest that however you want to look at it, getting ill enough with Covid to require intubation doesn’t exactly help the situation.

    • I completely agree with what you said John. Having followed the outpourings of the mainstream news media since Covid appeared I have noticed a surprising lack of specific information concerning the age, vaccination status and overall health of those who’ve been deemed to die ‘of’ or ‘from’ the disease. Overall, I believe you’d have to have your head firmly down a literal rabbit hole to not feel that mainstream media has relentlessly pushed a ‘one size fits all’ Covid response while cutting down any questioning voices as ‘conspiracy theorists’. One doesn’t have to be a rabbit-chasing conspiracy theorist to have questions which constantly aren’t answered. And one wonders why aren’t these questions being asked more? Unfortunately, and surprisingly it seems no one in the Echo is asking any. Seems the Echo has suddenly unanimously decided to back only one view on this story. I’m so curious to know… Do all journalists at the Echo believe the same thing? Or did they leave/lose their jobs because they weren’t allowed to print what they thought? Or what is going on? I’m confused and really curious.

      • Hi Maya,

I work for the Echo – I publish stories from both sides of the argument – I am a reporter and I create news stories, from news sources.
I don’t print gossip and posts that someone saw on a Facebook page of a friend who heard it from a neighbour – or YouTube.

I don’t repeat stories about children whose photos are stolen from stock image libraries or K-Mart ads and posted with lies about “Kylie from Ipswich” or “Sherryanne from Dubbo” or whatever ridiculous, non-verifiable story (lie) that someone has conjured to suit their agenda.

I do not publish comments with streams of links – if you have an opinion, I want to hear that, not just loads of stuff in links you copy and paste from whichever “expert” is your current media guru.

I print the facts that NSW Health supply – they don’t always or even often give me the information, facts and details I want.
I often ask NSW Health and NNSWLHD questions – I don’t always get an answer.
(Not very often at all in fact).

I print facts that I get first-hand from people I speak to personally about THEIR situation, and not the story about their aunt who knows a guy…

The very illuminating fact is – one side of the argument calls us “Pharma shill” the other side of the argument says we print misinformation, so I guess if we are getting crap from BOTH camps, then we must be pretty much in the middle. We publish stories about every aspect.

NO ONE at The Echo has lost their job.

It’s very tiring (tedious, boring, frustrating and annoying) watching and moderating comments from people ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ARGUMENT who are just too bone lazy to do actual research.

Many of the comments we get are second-hand mantras that people heard somewhere else and are parroting because it suits their narrative.

If I had $10 for every keyboard warrior who posted non-factual, made-up comments or just plain lies about the Echo, I could afford a holiday in Hawaii.

PS You’d be surprised how many commentators on here have fake email addresses – just made up non-people with 5 names.
But what people don’t realise is, there is a digital fingerprint that you cannot hide – so we KNOW all the people who have two or five or eight aliases.

        Think about that.

        • Sounds like you do need a holiday Eve!

Dissing on names and Towns, repeating what you said you don’t. No need for that.

How about a follow up on adverse jab reactions as Hans promised months ago for a bit of a balance booster?

“There is also a lack of reporting on vaccine injuries and deaths by the mainstream media. The Echo is aware of local cases, and will be investigating these in coming weeks.” Hans Lovejoy October 22, 2021

Holidays in Dubbo and Ipswich are better from mid March when it starts to cool a little for mine.

  3. Sure The Echo was something worth chipping in to keep it alive as an awesome source of journalism made locally. But this article is full on prop, as has been stated above. Tell us their age and their vax status so this whole theater can be called what it is. This nonexistent pandemic is still affecting the great majority of people in the world. So report the truth and make it crumble. Have some balls and follow Mr Assange. The truth deserves to be upheld. I’ll be withdrawing my financial contribution to The Echo…I guess you are getting a better pay off from reporting misleading information for the benefit of the pantomime.

  4. At any given time there are dozens of pandemics. WHO defines a pandemic as at least one person on each continent has tested positive in a 12 month period.
Most seasonal influenzas fit that definition.
People are confusing the medical term “Pandemic” with the common word “Plague”.
