The Northern New South Wales Local Health District (NNSWLHD) reports that to 4pm yesterday, February 17, 300 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in District, including 72 positive PCR tests and 228 positive rapid antigen tests (RAT).**
There are 43 COVID-19 positive patients in hospital in Northern NSW, with four of these in ICU.
NNSWLHD reports there was a death of a local resident in the 24 hour period. This person was in their 70s and from Lismore.

New COVID-19 cases in NSW for the week up to 4pm, yesterday, Thursday February 17 totalled 55,435.
A snapshot of a day in NSW shows that yesterday NSW Health reported the deaths of 15 people with COVID-19; eight women and seven men in the 24 hour period.
One person was in their 50s, two people were in their 60s, four people were in their 70s, five people were in their 80s and three people were in their 90s. Older age is a significant risk factor for serious illness and death for COVID-19, particularly when combined with significant underlying health conditions.
Two people had received three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, eight people had received two doses and five people were not vaccinated.
One of these people was aged under 65. They were unvaccinated and had significant underlying health conditions.
Four people were from the Port Macquarie area, three people were from south western Sydney, two people were from the Central Coast, two people were from Sydney’s Inner West, one person was from north-west Sydney, one person was from Inner Sydney, one person was from northern NSW and one person was from the South Coast.
There are currently 1,447 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, including 92 people in intensive care, 47 of whom require ventilation.
