Festival goer dies with meningococcal disease

Late last night thousands of Splendour in the Grass ticket holders received an email alerting them that NSW Health has been notified of two cases of meningococcal disease in people who attended the festival.

The NSW State Emergency Services issued an urgent flood warning to Northern Rivers residents arouund 7.30am Monday via social media.

Anyone living in low-lying areas near creeks and rivers between the QLD border and the Clarence Valley that can be impacted by flood waters was advised to move to higher ground if safe to do so, the SES said.
Widespread major flooding was occurring and the SES said it was a life-threatening situation.
‘This is a rapidly evolving situation,’ the SES said.
Major flood warnings were in place at the time for the following major river systems in the region: Brunswick including Marshalls Creek, Clarence, Tweed, ,Wilsons, Nambucca, Orara and Bellinger.
