As the flood crisis continues to impact the region, the organisers of the World Naked Bike Ride have decided to postpone the local events planned for 13 March at Byron Bay and also at Nimbin.
Organiser Deb Conomy told The Echo the event was being postponed out of respect to the community with regard to the flooding. ‘It didn’t feel appropriate to go ahead with it. We want to make sure people don’t turn up unnecessarily while everyone’s still trying to clean up and everything.’
Pending Council approval, the new date for Byron Bay will be Sunday 24 April. The plan is for Nimbin’s ride to also happen on that weekend, although Ms Conomy said they usually ride on a Saturday there.
