Queensland Police declared a Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) at Nerang last night. Photo supplied.

Queensland Police took a man in his 30s into custody at around 9pm yesterday after they made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) owing to a situation at Nerang.

The PSPA was declared at 5.45pm, with the exclusion zone including Crusader Way, between Weedons Road and Centurion Crescent.

Officers were called to an address within the exclusion zone around 5.20pm before a threat to public safety was identified, resulting in the declaration.

The last PSPA declared by Queensland Police was because of an ambush of four police officers and the shooting of three of those officers, resulting in the death of two of them – at Wieambilla on Monday evening.

No one was injured in last night’s incident.

Investigations remain ongoing. No further information is available.
