We can’t solve the lack of social housing investment, or magically make emergency accommodation appear, but we can help alleviate suffering and bring warmth and comfort to people coping in truly awful situations.

Nimbin’s HEMP Embassy is running its first post-COVID Medican this Saturday at the Bush Theatre.

Embassy President Michael Balderstone says promises to be an educational and highly informative day.

‘First up we will be hearing from ex-magistrate and now Dean of Law at Southern Cross Uni David Heilpern. He will fill us in on the latest hopes to change the roadside saliva testing rules. Attitudes are changing quickly as every week thousands of Australians are discovering they can access legal cannabis as medicine. Heilpern will also talk about where we are headed on the legal front.

‘Debbie Ranson is a Cannabis Nurse linking advocacy with her role as a nursing professional. Ranson works in a cannabis clinic in Brisbane and brings a wealth of experience to the Medican.

‘Also speaking will be Dr Ben Jansen, the founder of Burleigh Heads Cannabis, Cannabis Doctors Australia and Canview, Des Harp who is a member of the PCCA, Professional Compounding Chemists of Australia and a market leader in supplying customised medicine.

‘All of these speakers are experts in their areas of medicinal cannabis.

A very special guest from Victoria

Mr Balderstone says there is a very special guest at the event. ‘Newly elected in Victoria, Rachel Payne MP from the Legalise Cannabis Party will be at the Medican to speak about her vision for changing the laws with Premier Dan.

‘And yet another new speaker, Marc Selan will tell us about his last eight years running a Cannabis Club in Barcelona. He has severe ulcerative colitis and suffered numerous adverse reactions to pharma medications before he discovered cannabis put his symptoms into remission. This led to him to running a Cannabis Club in Spain as a virtual dispensary over the last decade which has given him a unique insight into how a legal market for cannabis can work so effectively and easily.’

The Medican will start at 10.30am at the Bush Theatre beside Mulgum Creek at the north end of the village. Terrific food will be available at the venue and entry is by donation.
