It would seem to me that there is a very logical, practical solution to this ongoing problem of free roaming canines. When I was in California and took my stepdaughter’s gorgeous hound to the dog park not only did Tika have plenty of room to run she also had a great opportunity to socialise.
There were two separate, large enclosures, one for little dogs and one for large and middle-sized dogs. One area for all does not work so well.
What we need is an appropriate space from Council; set up a watering station and a poo drop and shade and seats for the two-legged visitors. Not a large area is required.
The problem is real. Our endangered wildlife is declining rapidly and we need to protect it at all costs, while still looking to the health and wellbeing of our canine cousins. Council, shake it up and come to the party, or admit you just don’t care.
