Police are appealing for public assistance about a crash near Byron Bay yesterday morning.

About 9am yesterday (Wednesday, 14 June 2023), emergency services were called to Broken Head Road, Broken Head, following reports of a crash.

Officers attached to Tweed-Byron Police District arrived to find a motorcycle and a Mazda sedan had collided.

The 55-year-old male rider was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition. He was later transferred to ICU in a critical condition.

The male driver of the motor vehicle was not injured.

A crime scene was established, and police commenced an investigation into the cause of the crash.

As inquires continue police are urging anyone with dashcam footage or any information about this incident to contact Tweed-Byron police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
