Extraordinary negative and callous statements regarding Stan Grant in the recent edition’s Backlash section. Grant was a terrible host? Grant made the show unwatchable? Stan restored control to debates that previous hosts had struggled with in a calm and professional manner. Stan is the epitome of class. Recent episodes debating the upcoming Voice referendum were outstanding.

Stan is willing to ask hard questions about our colonial past that should not make people feel so uncomfortable. It must be horrific dealing with constant racial abuse. Interesting decision for Backlash, deciding to add more negative comments about Stan Grant to the public record. What were you trying to achieve?

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

  1. One of Stan’s ‘admirers’ on social media has been found by the police and hauled into court.
A further court attendance is to come, the outcome we await.

  2. I really don’t think the comment in Backlash is at all comparable to the threats to life, limb and family. We’re allowed to have different opinions as to how well someone fulfils a particular role but this needn’t be assumed to have any foundation in racism. Or am I missing something?
