US budget papers have revealed plans for a new American air force base in Darwin.
This facility would allow nuclear-armed B52 bombers to operate from Australia, however, the Australian public would never be informed of operations under the so-called US policy of ‘warhead ambiguity’.
This is Australia’s fake ‘non-nuclear proliferation treaty’ in action (along with the nuclear-powered submarines) under the fake Labor government.
I eagerly await Indigenous leaders in the NT to call out this danger to PM Albanese (the worst Labor government in history) on threats to their Country and Australia as a whole. After all, we’re all in this together!
We are a target with or without that base. “Neutrality” as a means of national security historically speaking has a similar record as a paper umbrella.
I’d prefer we be a target with teeth.
Also, the public does need to know the details of military operations. That’s security 101.
Switzerland was invaded????
Switzerland doesn’t have teeth?
Rod, good call.
Not sure how First Nations People will go stopping the Darwin USA Nuclear Base when Australia is “all the way with the USA” and already hosting a number of USA bases on Aussie soil. We’ll be getting a whole lot more USA Nuclear Bases to house those new beaut Nuclear Subs in coming years. The dangerous and reckless Albanese Govt need to be stopped.
First Nations People in NT couldn’t stop uranium mining in Kakadu.
First Nations People in WA couldn’t stop the Juukan Gorge Caves being blown to smithereens.
The PKKP People have again trampled over again with WA Govt now reinstating the 1972 Laws that allowed Juukan Gorge destruction
So, First Nations People stopping the Darwin USA Nuclear Base unlikely to happen on current Govt form…oh wait , The Voice to the rescue?
If the Aboriginals walked in and reclaimed the land, and the US troops shot a bunch of them, you think the public would let that slide?
As an addon to my earlier, just had to give a refresh mention to, The Voice.
In South Australia, the Barngarla People have had nice win, that proposed dangerous toxic nuclear waste dump at Kimba has itself been dumped. The Barngarla won the day in Court, ‘their Voice’ has been heard and acted upon!
So they already have a Voice? Just by using the same courts and stuff we do? Just like we did when they tried to run a gas pipeline through our area? So voting NO is a vote for equality, voting YES is voting for racial supremacy. Good to know.
CVS, we are not Switzerland. We are not afforded the comfortable position of not being in possession of or on the road to important things worth the cost.
Neutrality will not protect us. We’d be Belgians or Melians.
We aren’t at a crossroad in the middle of large landmass. We are an island on the edge of the world. We have long distances that break tanks, with no cover to hide them. Military aircraft would run low on fuel just getting to our population centres. We have all the resources we need, to make everything we need, including a billion battle robots, and the best drone pilots in the world to operate them.
We are a staging and base area for operations in the Indo Pacific, like we were in the 40s. We’re not at the edge of the world, that would be NZ.
In any future Sino/US war, both sides will seek to neutralise/preserve Australia as a war asset; neither side can afford not to. Welcome to history; even if you have no interest in it, it has interest in you.
Plus, the PLA has had a remarkable and terrifying capability increase. Another 5 years, they’ll more than likely have the planes and missiles with the range and numbers needed to hit everything of value on the Aus mainland. No invasion needed.
Any talk of War or an idea that anyone benefits shows that we have learn’t nothing from history.
The very idea of following the US into a fifth pointless war and the repercussions fill me with dread.
Big stick diplomacy or any idea that we have to be armed the teeth to eliminate risk or repercussions is no better that pre history cave men.
We haven’t evolved as a species if we have to continually destroy each other to settle our differences.
There will be no future following the next global conflict.
Any idea that all we need is a desire for peace also totally ignores history. We already have global conflict.
Actually, radiation has trouble crossing the equator. If we limit the war to the Northern Hemisphere, the new global superpowers will be Australia and Brazil.
