Margaret Blades

In September and October, the Gold Coast Chamber Orchestra has two great performances – Spring is in the Air and Classical Gems  .

From Perth, Western Australia, violinist Margaret Blades and pianist, Ayesha Gough present Spring is in the Air on 17 September at 2.30pm at the Bond University Club.

The GCCO are very pleased to announce that Margaret will be continuing in the role of concertmaster and they welcome her with this wonderful recital. Margaret and Ayesha will be playing the outstanding César Franck Sonata in A Major for violin and piano and the much-loved Spring Sonata by Beethoven along with contemporary Estonian composer, Arvo Pärt’s Fratres, meaning Brothers.

Margaret Blades is a former concertmaster of the Adelaide and West Australian Symphony Orchestras and has performed as a soloist both nationally and internationally on several occasions.

Ayesha Gough replaces David Wickham owing to unforeseen circumstances.

Season two sees Classical Gems conducted by Chen Yang in two performances with concert one on Sunday 24 September at the Murwillumbah Civic Centre and Concert two on Sunday 8 October at Bond University. This is the GCCO’s second full orchestra concert as Orchestra in Residence at Bond University and will feature works by Holst, Sculthorpe, Suk, Piazzolla and several others.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
