An investigation is underway by detectives attached to Coffs-Clarence Police District after a teenage boy died after being stabbed overnight.

Emergency services were called to Pacific Street, Corindi Beach, 26km north of Coffs Harbour, shortly after 5.40pm yesterday, Sunday, 13 August, and found a 16-year-old boy suffering a stab wound to his thigh.

Police rendered first aid until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived and took the boy to Coffs Harbour Health Campus; however, he died shortly after.

A crime scene has been established and investigations commenced under Strike Force Cored, assisted by detectives from State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.

As inquiries continue, officers have spoken to a number of people at the location and conducted a canvass of the area.

They are appealing for anyone with information to contact Coffs Harbour Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
