What does being courageous mean to you?

So often this characteristic is ascribed to war heroes or political prisoners – people who have overcome enormous odds to achieve great things on a grand scale.

But what about the acts and examples of courage that go unheralded? Those that occur every day but are no less extraordinary?

Stories such as these are the focus of Circle of Courage, an even to be held next Tuesday evening (September 26) at Ocean Shores Community Centre.

The event, running from 6–9.30pm, will see three community members step forward to share their unique personal stories.

Baring her soul will be local Speaker, Artist and Therapist Freer Bonne, who will speak about ‘Finding the pathway back to Love’, exploring the courage to lean into love, to learn how to give it and receive love back.

Joining Ms Bonne will be local Film Maker Darius Devas will share a personal story of courage, and event organiser Louise Walker, who will share her unique personal story, which inspires others on a daily basis.

Local musician Gabrielle Euphoria will also perform, sharing heart-felt sounds that echo her own life’s journey.

‘Circle of Courage is a low-cost community event open to all who are seeking an authentic step into growth and fresh insights and perspectives around courage,’ said Ms Walker, a Brunswick Heads resident.

‘It’s about shedding our facades and allowing vulnerability to fortify our spirits,’ Ms Walker says of the event.

‘Our world is increasingly dominated by digital interactions… My hope is that this event will serve as a poignant reminder of the irreplaceable power of genuine human connections.’

There will be a range of products available to sample at the event which aim to support mental, emotional and physical wellbeing.
