2022 flood data quietly made public

NSW police say a man has been charged over the alleged glassing of a teen at Byron Bay yesterday.

Police were told that at about 3am on Saturday, a man allegedly assaulted a 17-year-old teenage boy with a glass bottle before punching him in the face outside a licenced premises on Jonson Street, Byron Bay.

The man then allegedly fled the scene.

The teenager attended Byron Bay Hospital where he was treated for facial injuries.

Officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District were notified shortly after and established a crime scene.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 28-year-old man in West Ballina, about 9.30am yesterday, Sunday, 17 September.

He was taken to Ballina Police Station where he was charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and two counts of common assault.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Ballina Local Court on Thursday 28 September 2023.
