The Tugun Bypass Tunnel will be closed to all traffic from 8pm to 5am from Sunday 19 November to Thursday 23 November 2023 for essential maintenance work.
‘To reduce impacts to motorists, work will be carried out at night,’ said a spokesperson for Transport NSW.
The tunnel will remain fully operational during the day.

On each other night during the closure, northbound traffic will be diverted at the Gold Coast Highway (Tugun exit) onto Tugun Currumbin Road, rejoining the M1 Motorway at Currumbin, with southbound traffic diverted at Tugun Currumbin Road (exit 95) onto Gold Coast Highway, re-joining the M1 Motorway at Tweed Heads West (Gold Coast Highway on-ramp).
There will be additional lane closures in place on the Pacific Highway near Greenway Drive, just south of the Tugun Bypass.
The tunnel will reopen at 5am on Friday, 24 November, weather permitting.
‘Motorists are advised to allow up to five minutes additional travel time for the diversions, to drive to the conditions and follow the direction of signs and traffic control.’
