At about 4.30pm yesterday afternoon, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance to a serious single vehicle accident on the Bruxner Highway at Wollongbar, north-west of Ballina.
The vehicle had left the road, hitting a tree and trapping the two occupants.
First responders including SES and Police Rescue released the male driver and his female passenger, who were treated by paramedics and the helicopter’s critical care medical team.
A female in her 20s who sustained head injuries was airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital, with the male driver transported by road to Lismore Hospital.
