Police divers have recovered the body of a 34-year-old man who went missing after diving into a popular swimming hole west of Coffs Harbour on Saturday.
Emergency services were reportedly called to Dorrigo’s Dangar Falls in the Bellingen shire just after midday Saturday after the man failed to resurface.
A woman present at the falls when the tragedy happened has told the ABC she saw a group of men taking turns climbing to the top and jumping the roughly 30-metre distance into the waterhole.
A local police and State Emergency Service search that day ended without finding the man before authorities began searching again early Sunday.
Divers from the NSW Police Marine Area Command’s Dive Unit arrived on scene Sunday afternoon and announced the discovery of the man’s body around 4.20pm.
Police say they’ll prepare a report for the Coroner.
