A giant crystal amethyst from south Brazil called ‘The Cocoon’ has arrived at the Crystal Castle, after a year of planning, logistics, engineering and artistry.

Marketing manager, Toby King, said it’s really lovely to have a new crystal to show people. ‘It’s our first in five years’, he told The Echo.

‘The Cocoon is very reminiscent of new beginnings, change and growth.’

The crystal has been in situ for about three weeks with plenty of visitors coming out to see the newest member of the crystal family.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

  1. well that’s a silly headline! The crystal egg was not found in Byron’s hinterland, it was sent there from Brazil. Stupidly misinforming.

    • artifact – noun – An object produced or shaped by human craft, especially a tool, weapon, or ornament of archaeological or historical interest.

If I find a pretty rock and sell it to you, does that mean you stole it?

        • My personal beef is less with Artefact trafficking, which is problematic enough, and more with governments wilfully and purposely destroying artefacts and archaeological sites because they tell a history that is politically inconvenient. So many history changing sites have been bulldozed, and when you tell people about them, they think it’s a conspiracy theory.
