Witnesses of an assault on the Pacific Highway over the weekend are being asked to contact police as they investigate the alleged crime.
Emergency services were reportedly called to the highway near the Kennedy Drive on-ramp in the Tweed Shire shortly before four pm Sunday.
A Triple Zero caller said a man was being assaulted near the intersection of Kennedy Drive.
Tweed Byron Police District officers say they arrived to find a 45-year-old man suffering serious facial injuries.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Police say the man had been riding with a group of motorcycle riders north along the highway about 3.20pm before he was found injured.
Investigators say they’re still waiting to get a statement from the injured man but are appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident, or who may have relevant dashcam vision, to contact Tweed Heads Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
