Audacious, humane, sensible, permanent. Achieving such a solution to the present Middle East crisis would require persons of state, that, unlike the current ones staffing the seats of power and encompassing both the political and cardinal points of the world, would not have their heads buried in the sands of time, but be keenly aware of the lessons of history and know that no power, since the days of Rome, has ever triumphed in guerrilla warfare. They would be aware that:
- The present approach benefits the hounds of war and the armament industry.
- That Nazism takes many forms
- Speaks many languages
- Disregards human rights
- It ‘Creates a wasteland and calls it civilization’ (Chief Seattle).
Given that in the interconnected world of systems, of which we are all part, the state of one part affects all others, it would make greater sense to send hospital ships to the eastern shores of the Mediterranean rather than warships. Regrettably, this will not happen.
We must therefore conclude that unless, we the people, vote into power persons with the stated qualities heading this letter, no permanent solution will ever be found.
If we care for peace and humanity, we must display the audacity to put a stop to the collective madness that is being displayed at present, divert armament funds and spend it on providing settlements, industries and a fair and positive future for all the oppressed of the Middle East and the rest of the world.
