Friday evening saw a bountiful display of art at Lismore’s Serpentine Gallery celebrating the feminine and preluding the 2024 Lismore Women’s Festival.

The show saw a range of work from artists who identify as women who were celebrating the wonderful diversity of the feminine in The Art of Woman show. From sculpture to painting to photography the show brought together and highlighted the amazing artists skills of women throughout the Northern Rivers. The show will run until Friday 15 March and will launch the Lismore Women’s Festival on 7 March from 5pm with Kelly Banister, CEO NORWACS providing the opening address.

International Women’s Day, 8 March, will see a fantastic program at Southern Cross University with a range of free and paid for events available for everyone to participate in.

From yoga and vocal workshops to visionary thought leaders there is something for everyone who wants to get involved. The focus of this year’s event is ‘connecting the generations’ with an Intergenerational Dance workshop facilitated by Miriam Torzillo and other events such as Bundjalung weaving circle with Kyle Caldwell and Egyptian Dance for Wellbeing.

Festival mistress

Mandy Nolan is the festival’s ‘Mistress of Ceremony’ and she will introduce keynote speaker, Ashani Dante – thought leader, speaker and visionary on embodied feminine leadership, a type of leadership that inspires women to reclaim their intuitive gifts and harness the power of inner wisdom.

There will be debates on chivalry, the Fierce Femmes Panel Discussion featuring panellists: Professor Judy Atkinson, Jenny Dowell, Justine Dorrell, Amy Colli and Amarina Toby among many other events throughout the day.
