Buyback homes in the Northern Rivers are set to get a new lease of life as part of a housing reuse initiative by NSW Reconstruction Authority (RA) and Homes NSW.

The corner of Jubilee Ave (where it becomes Coolamon Sceinic Drive) and Azalea Street, near Mullumbimby High School, is currently closed following a truck leaving the road and damaging overhead electrical lines.

Essential Energy, the Police, and Fire and Rescue NSW are currently on the scene securing the electricity lines and managing traffic.

A tow truck is in the process of removing the damaged truck that has careened off the road narrowly missing the Timbre Slab Factory.

Access blocked

There is currently no access to Mullumbimby from the south-west via Myocum and Coolamon Scenic Drive and only access on foot to Left Bank Road and Tallowood Estate from Jubilee Avenue.

Vehicle access to Tallowoood Estate and Left Bank Raod can come via Coral Avenue next to the Mullumbimby Showground

The incident took place at school closing time impacting students at Mullumbimby’s High and Shearwater Steiner School.

It is expected that the road will remain closed for at least several more hours.

Electricity out

Due to the downed powerlines the electricity is currently cut to a number of homes and businesses in the area.
