Sibley Street, Nimbin

Police say they arrested a 35-year-old man in Nimbin last week after he crashed a BMW several times in the rainforest village.

Emergency services were reportedly called to Nimbin’s Cullen Street shortly before 7pm Thursday 30 May after a black BMW X5 crashed into three parked vehicles before crashing into a licensed premises on Sibley Street.

The BMW was then allegedly driven a further distance on Cullen Street before stopping on a raised garden bed.

Police said the driver was uninjured but was taken to Lismore Base Hospital for mandatory testing after they arrested him.

Meanwhile, his 43-year-old female passenger was airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital.

The driver is to appear before Lismore Local Court on Monday 15 July for driving under the influence of drugs.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
