This morning in Brunswick Heads legendary environmentalist Bob Brown visited the protesters at the Save Wallum blockade site to show his support for the environment and the people who are doing their best to save it.
After six months of continuous blockading, the Save Wallum enjoyed the huge morale boost of ‘Saint’ Bob Brown touring the Wallum site.
‘This is the highlight of our visit north,’ said Brown. ‘Because you people give us spirit from far away because of what you are doing. We are winners because we are with the spirit of this planet, there is no other, just this little planet that gives us life, love and laughter, so it’s terrific being here with you.’

Brown and his partner Paul Thomas, who are in town for three sessions at the Byron Writer’s Festivall, were welcomed by traditional owners followed by an ecological tour of the wallum ecosystem.
Beautiful pristine environment
‘Coastal development in Australia has destroyed more of these beautiful pristine environments than any other form of our impacts since 1788 on Australian magnificent natural and cultural heritage,’ said Brown. ‘It’s got to stop, and in an intact wonderland like here at Wallum is where it must stop.
‘It is dazzling there are so many good-hearted people campaigning for this – it’s very important to keep in mind we are the guardians, nobody can come back and do this once this is gone.’
