A body, believed to be that of a man missing from Ballina, has been located today.

The 45-year-old man was last seen near River Street, Ballina, about 7.30pm on Monday 12 August 2024.

When he was unable to be located or contacted, officers attached to Richmond Police District were notified and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.

About 6.30am today (Friday 16 August 2024), police were called to South Ballina Beach after a body was found in the water.

While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing 45-year-old man.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
