Investigations continue into a house fire police say killed a man in Terania Creek Saturday night.
Police on Sunday said emergency services were called to a home on Wallace Road at Terania Creek, near Nimbin*, about 8.45pm Saturday 3 August.
They say the building was well-alight when they arrived.
NSW Rural Fire Service volunteers were able to put out the fire but a sweep of the building revealed the body of a man, believed to be aged in his 70s.
He is yet to be formally identified.
Specialist police were to examine the official crime scene, with the fire’s cause and origin unknown.
*This article has been updated to reflect the fact Nimbin is nearer to Terania Creek than Ballina. Police referred to Terania Creek as ‘near Ballina’.
