Much of the Northern Rivers is blanketed in smoke this morning, with controlled burns and other fires happening on both sides of the border.
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is currently conducting a controlled hazard reduction burn covering 423 hectares in Mount Jerusalem NP, affecting Upper Main Arm to Manns Road in Chowan Creek.
Another planned burn is happening at Depot Road, in Kings Forest.
Further north, there are also fires in Lamington National Park, near Canungra and in the Beaudesert region.
Additional fires around the region include Busby’s Flat and Cheviot Hills, near Drake, as well as smaller incidents in the Koonyum Range and near Yamba.
You can stay up to date with fire activity across the district via the Fires Near Me app or on the web.
