An outstanding collaborative effort in the most challenging of circumstances has seen 12 public schools on the Northern Rivers named as finalists in the NSW Premier’s Awards in the World Class Education and Training category.
The NSW Premier’s Awards celebrates excellence in the delivery of public services to the NSW community by the public sector, and not-for-profit organisations and private businesses in partnership with public sector agencies and departments.
Located from Broadwater to the Tweed, the 12 schools worked together to provide much-needed wellbeing support and community connection for students in the weeks and months following 2022’s flood disaster.
Together the schools took a flexible, innovative and collaborative approach to build strong community relationships and ensure every child had access to a quality education and a strong sense of belonging when they needed it most.
The schools nominated for the awards are – Tumbulgum Public School; Crabbes Creek Public School; Condong Public School; Mullumbimby Public School; Mullumbimby High School; Blakebrook Public School; Cabbage Tree Island Public School; Wardell Public School; Empire Vale Public School; Broadwater Public School; The Rivers Secondary College Richmond River High Campus; and Lismore South Public School.
The awards take place at NSW Parliament House next month.
