Increasing the effectiveness of Lismore’s waste management operations

The NSW Government has announced a $5 million grant to Lismore City Council to increase the effectiveness of its waste management operations.

Ballina Shire Cpouncil (BSC) says that the road closure is expected to continue for four weeks until mid-December, weather and site conditions permitting.

What to expect

  • The Coast Road will be closed between Pat Morton Lookout and the North Creek Road/Byron Bay Road Roundabout.
  • Motorists will still be able to access Pat Morton Lookout, however there will be no through access to Lennox Head.
  • Motorists will need to use the detour via Skennars Head Road and North Creek Road.
  • Access to the Lennox Head town centre will be maintained via the North Creek Road roundabout/ Ballina Street.
  • Pedestrian access around Pat Morton Lookout, Lennox Headland and the surrounding shared pathways will be maintained.
  • Pedestrian access to the beaches and coastline will be maintained.

These works are separate to the damaged road shoulder on the southbound lane near Pat Morton Lookout. This landslip site will be repaired under natural disaster funding recently approved by the state government. The project is in the initial design phase and construction is not anticipated till later in 2025.

‘Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks the community for their patience and understanding during this essential maintenance,’ said BSC oin a press release.

  1. A little more rain than anticipated and this busy road is closed over the even busier Summer period.

    Council planning. The mind boggles.
