Police say a man has died after an alleged assault in the Tweed Shire in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Emergency services were reportedly called to William Street in Tweed Heads South around 3:15am Sunday, in response to an assault.
Officers say when they arrived they found an unconscious man, believed to be aged in his thirties, lying on the ground outside a home.
Paramedics treated him but he died at the scene.
The man is yet to be formally identified.
The State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad is helping with the investigation and police are asking anyone with information to contact Tweed Heads Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
